Belvoir Castle Game Fair
Yeh, so, last weekend we went to the Game Fair at Belvoir Castle. Blimey, that was an experience  I still don’t really know what all the fuss was about, perhaps it is just an upper class thing, or at least, thats what it seemed to be.
The Game Fair is basically for people who enjoy Country Sports (well, that counts me out, I’m not into killing Fox’s), Countryside (Yes, I am into the countryside, but fail to see how this related to it? Unless of course it meant the Land Cruisers you can buy to drive through the countryside) or just for a family day out (Well, I could of thought of better things to do, especially walking around on stones and gravel for hours on end looking at pictures and clothes of no interest, well, actually, the pictures were pretty cool and the prices made me laugh, so I guess it wasn’t all that bad).
Anyway… Mark, me sisters fella, breeds and flys hawks, so he gave us a couple of free tickets to go in and have a browse round and go and see what he is up to. They had a stall there and did a few bits and bobs with the hawks, which is really cool actually, if you have never seen anyone give an hawk exhibition then you should, its incredible how these hawks can be trained and will fly in a certain way just by either the way the trainer moves their arms or whistles or makes a noise, brilliant to see.
Heres Mark with an 8 week old Goshawk. Amazing birds, infact, Mark said the Goshawk is the Ferrari of the Hawk world. The one Mark is holding is around £2k!!
Mark actually looks shattered on this pic, they had been there since the Thursday night and this was taken on the Saturday afternoon, they had been roughing it in tents as well, but they did have a generator for lager at the back of the stand! Maybe thats why he looks so shattered!
It was funny walking around listning to people, me and me sis were just looking at each other gone out, people really do talk with plums in their mouths! LOL We were walking through the different stalls and came across some really excellent oil paintings, and this woman and her hubby walked past, and as they did, the woman said “Oh, look at those photographs” to which her hubby replied “They are not photographs darling, they are paintings”, if she didn’t sound so pathetic I would have probably thought it was funny, I felt like going up to her and calling her a stupid thick bitch, but thought better of it. How ignorant and insulting to the artist tho. Photographs?? She probably thought she was at Buckingham Palace too!
Anyway, I guess its really interesting if you live in their world, but I am quite happy where I am and will stick to Alton Towers in future for a fun day out! ehehe.
